Network Marketing In Kenya

The Network Marketing  industry in Kenya has seen a positive resurgence over the last few years. I for one work for an Internet Marketing company with offices here in Nairobi, Kenya. The Network Marketing,Internet or Affiliate Marketing uses direct selling to distribute goods or services to consumers. The distributors then go on to develop teams that will also distribute the same goods and services to other consumers. The earnings are commission based from the consumers of the services who then become distributors themselves. There is also money earned from the team efforts which are meant to create a residual or passive income. The whole point of such an income is to ensure you do not run out of money mid month and rushing for an advance cheque which still has to be repaid the first thing the following month.

It is a tough industry to work in as it means running your own business and rewiring your mind to work against the conventional JOB structure of exchanging time for money in someone else's business. Kenya has had its fair share of Network Marketing companies in which people have lost money as they did not make as much as promised. These people are around us; parents, aunts, uncles, neighbours and friends. The reason for loss of money was not doing market research and greed on the side of the companies which promised quick riches. If only! The industry requires time, patience and a complete mind shift.

In Kenya we are opportunists always on the look out for a new and lucrative deal. Our entrepreneurial nature is driven by scarce jobs and the need to have a second income. However in our rush for a one stop solution we lose sight of what needs to be done first to be a successful business owner. You need to learn the basic skills of business by creating time to learn them and getting out of your comfort zone by meeting new people daily.

The difference the network marketing industry is now facing is the power of hindsight from past mistakes, consumers requesting for more relevant information about the industry and a drive by the industry to clean off its past into an ethical present and future business environment.
